Columbus Blue Jackets Bio Data :

In 1993, the Columbus Blue Jackets (often referred to as the Jackets and abbreviated CBJ) were established as an American professional ice hockey team with their headquarters in Columbus, Ohio, USA. In the National Hockey League (NHLMetropolitanDivision )’s in the Eastern Conference, they participate as an expansion team. They made their NHL debut in the 2000-01 season as a member of the Metropolitan Division.

For much of their history, the Blue Jackets struggled, never managing to win 30 games in a season until 2005–06. Despite earning their first-ever appearance in the Stanley Cup Playoffs in 2009, the team was swept in the first round by the Detroit Red Wings. In the end, the Columbus Blue Jackets won their first playoff game in the 2014 postseason and their first playoff series against the Tampa Bay Lightning in the 2019 postseason, becoming the first team in NHL history to sweep a Presidents’ Trophy winner in the first round.

The name and logos of the Columbus Blue Jackets are taken from the state of Ohio’s involvement in the American Civil War. The Blue Jackets play their home games at Nationwide Arena, which opened in downtown Columbus in 2000 and serves as the team’s home arena.

The Blue Jackets have played their home games at Nationwide Arena since 2000. In addition, they are affiliated with the Cleveland Monsters of the American Hockey League. The team insignia is a “C” wrapped around a star, which is a stylized form of the Ohio state flag, which is a burgee (also known as swallowtail pennant) and represents both patriotism and Columbus’s role as the state capital of the United States.

As part of a Reebok-sponsored redesign for the 2007–08 season, the logo was raised from its prior status as an alternate logo. In its original form, the logo featured a red ribbon with thirteen stars, representing the Thirteen Colonies, that was unfurled in the shape of the team’s letters, CBJ, with an electric gold hockey stick piercing the centre to represent the letter “J.”

The letter “J” was represented by an electric gold hockey stick. It was the addition of a star to the top of the stick that denoted Columbus’ status as the state capital of the United States. From 2003 until 2015, the team’s jerseys included an alternate logo on the shoulders, which was a Civil War cap with crossed hockey sticks, which was worn by the players.

Since the commencement of their existence, the Blue Jackets have worn navy and white jerseys with red pants to represent their team colors. Over the years, many modifications have been made to the jerseys, mostly to the treatment of the crest and the striping on the sleeves. This past season, the Blue Jackets presented a new third jersey that was inspired by a classic hockey jersey design from the past.

A union blue background with white stripes on the sleeves and padding across the shoulders complements the Civil War theme of this garment. This is the cannon from the Civil War era that is represented on the team’s logo. John H. McConnell was the team’s founding father, and his initials are emblazoned on the shirt’s neckline. The inside of the collar features the words “We fight, we march!” in tribute to McConnell, who was the team’s founding father.

Adidas will develop alternate jerseys for the Blue Jackets for the 2020–21 season, according to the team’s website. The alternate uniforms will be called “Reverse Retro.” Unlike the previous white “Stinger” uniforms worn from 2000 to 2007, this one had a red base and white sleeve stripes instead of white, and it was more casual. Bally Sports Ohio broadcasts games with Jeff Rimer as the play-by-play announcer, and former Blue Jacket Jody Shelley provides colour analysis during the games. Jeremy Rimer began calling basketball games on television in 2005, and Shelley joined Rimer’s crew in 2014–15, replacing former commentator Bill Davidge, who had left the team due to personal reasons.

The Blue Jackets Live pregame, intermission, and postgame shows have been broadcast on NBC since the beginning of the 2018–2019 season. Davidge has served as co-host of the show from its inception. Davidge previously shared the role of co-host with Brian Giesenschlag from the start of the 2018–2019 season to the end of the season. Giesenschlag’s co-host for the show will be former Blue Jacket Jean-Luc Grand-Pierre, who will take over for Giesenschlag starting with the 2019–2020 season. During the game, Dave Maetzold offers an in-game analysis of the action.

Throughout Ohio and West Virginia, Bob McElligott broadcasts play-by-play coverage on radio stations WBNS-FM (flagship), WBNS, WWCD, and 34 other affiliates, as well as on the internet. After starting as a colour commentator for the Blue Jackets radio broadcast in July 2009, he was elevated to a play-by-play analyst for the 2013–14 season, taking over for George Matthews, who had been calling games for the team since the organization’s inception in 2000. The pre-game and post-game radio broadcasts are hosted by McElligott and Dylan Tyrer, who are also the team’s radio broadcasters. Fans can contact McElligott and Tyrer via e-mail and social media channels such as Twitter both during and after the game.
