Frederick Charles Freeman (born September 12, 1989) is a Major League Baseball first baseman for the Atlanta Braves (MLB). He debuted in Major League Baseball in 2010 and has since gone on to become a four-time All-Star. Freeman received the Gold Glove Award in 2018, the Silver Slugger Award in 2019 and 2020, and the Most Valuable Player Award in the National League in 2020.

According to Baseball America, he was the Braves’ fifth-best prospect coming into the 2009 season, and the 11th-best prospect overall in their mid-season top 25. Freeman was called up to the Braves as part of the team’s September call-ups on September 1, 2010, and made his MLB debut the same day. He earned his first career MLB hit against Florida Marlins pitcher Clay Hensley on September 5, 2010, and he hit his first MLB home run against Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Roy Halladay on September 21, 2010. With the Braves, he appeared in 20 games and batted.167. Freeman was not on the Braves’ postseason roster. Freeman entered the 2011 season as the Braves’ starting first baseman. His play improved after a difficult start, and he was considered as a strong candidate for rookie of the year. Freeman blasted two home runs against the Colorado Rockies on July 4, 2011, marking his first multi-home run game. Since Hank Aaron did it in 1954, Freeman was the only Braves rookie to achieve 50 RBIs by July 18.
